Wellbeing Research Centre Publishes Findings in World Happiness Report 2024

The Wellbeing Research Centre at the University of Oxford has published its findings in the World Happiness Report. The World Happiness Report 2024 revealed a concerning trend in North America, especially in the United States. While the country overall slipped in happiness ranking, happiness amongst young people under 30 has declined significantly.

This age group reports much lower well-being compared to older Americans, making the US one of the least happy places for young adults in the world. For organizations targeting younger audiences, a commitment to stakeholder health, happiness, prosperity, and safety is critical, and expected, to ensure brand well-being.

Financial burdens like student loan debt and a competitive job market create anxiety about the future. Furthermore, issues like climate change and political polarization can feel overwhelming, leaving students feeling like their voices do not matter.

Social media also plays a complex role. While it offers connection, it can also fuel envy and isolation. The constant bombardment of curated online lives can make students feel inadequate or inferior. This disconnection and negativity can significantly impact a student's overall well-being.
