A Legacy of Learning: Alumni Insights Investing in the Future Success of University Students

Yesterday I had the opportunity to return to the campus of my alma mater, Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. There, I met with soon-to-be undergraduates from the Department of Journalism & Mass Media, where I received my Master’s degree. As I have for the past several years, I reviewed portfolios and resumes from CSU students who are about to enter the job market, and I provided insights and recommendations from my years as a brand strategist, and shared how my experiences at CSU helped me in my career.  

The engagement of professional alumni with current students on campus represents a powerful and mutually beneficial exchange. When accomplished graduates return to their alma mater to share their experiences and insights, they bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world application. These interactions offer students a tangible glimpse into potential career paths, providing clarity and direction as they navigate their academic and professional journeys.
